" Living on the North Sea coast of Scotland inspired me to develop natural soaps to reflect our beautiful local environment while tackling real problems we encounter due to our sometimes dramatic weather and outdoors way of life.  

The wind and salt blowing off the sea can cause dry skin and my husband John is a full-time lobster-fisherman so frequently has mucky hands that are oily from tinkering with boat engines (or just smelly from dealing with bait).  

Our son has always had persistent eczema, exacerbated by some soaps and detergents, which motivated me to find a gentle alternative.  

The carefully selected natural ingredients in Castaway Soap, some of which come from our own sunny garden, not only make the soap effective, they also make our home smell phenomenal!

I am determined to keep the packaging minimal, so the soap bars are wrapped in recycled UK-stock paper, no plastic is used at all. I have always enjoyed drawing and love sketching the weird and wonderful sea beasties that John often comes across while fishing… using them to illustrate the soap packaging is a gentle reminder of why we want to keep our seas plastic-free. The illustrations are also available as cards and prints.'
